Jib Cranes

Jib Cranes are an inexpensive alternative to overhead bridge cranes and are more versatile in more applications than monorail cranes or stationary mounted hoists. Most often they are used for coverage over a single welding, assembly or machining work station. Total Tool Supply can provide you with a quote for a complete jib crane system including the jib, hoist, installation, start up and testing.

Jib Crane Types

Free Standing / Floor Mounted Jib Crane

Free Standing/Floor Mounted Jib Cranes are perfect underneath bridge cranes, in open areas where they can serve several work stations, in outdoor applications such as loading docks, or in machining and assembly operations where they can be overlapped with other jib cranes to provide staged coverage.

  • Available in floor mounted, insert mounted and sleeve insert mounted styles
  • Standard capacities from 500 to 10,000 lbs, with spans up to 20' (Higher capacities  & longer spans available as specials)
  • 360° rotation with optional collector ring
  • Motorized rotation optional
  • Installation available by Total Tool Supply
  • Generally requires a large concrete footing

Wall Mounted Full Cantilever Jib Crane

Wall Mounted Full Cantilever Jib Cranes provide hoist coverage and 200° rotation for individual use in bays, along walls, or columns of plants, or as a supplement to an overhead crane system. Fully cantilevered jib have the advantage of providing maximum lift for the hoist, since it can be installed very close to the underside of the lowest obstruction. It is composed of a vertical mast mounted to two brackets on a wall or vertical building beam with a boom that cantilevers out, perpendicular from the wall to the top.
  • Capacities from 1/4 ton to 5 tons
  • Spans up to 20'
  • Requires very little head room and exerts less force on the structure it is mounted to
  • Requires a structurally adequate wall or column to support the jib, and needs sufficient clearance above the boom

Wall Mounted Tie Rod Jib Crane

Wall Mounted Tie Rod Jib Cranes are the most economical means of providing hoist coverage for individual use in bays, along walls or columns of plants, or as a supplement to an overhead crane system. This jib has two brackets that mount to a wall or building beam. The bottom bracket has a boom that is perpendicular to the wall with a bracket toward the end that a tie rod is attached to. This is the least expensive jib, but it takes up the most head room and it exerts the most force on whatever it's mounted to.
  • Capacities from 1/2 ton to 5 tons
  • Spans up to 20'
  • 200° rotation
  • Suited for applications where maneuvering around obstacles or swinging under obstructions is necessary

Articulating Jib Cranes

Articulating Jib Cranes offer a material handling solution for applications moving around beams, corners, reaching under or into machinery. Articulating jibs can be floor, wall, ceiling, or bridge crane mounted to best suit your application. Generally articulating Jib Cranes have capacities ranging from 150 to 2,000 lbs. with spans up to 16 feet. Freestanding and ceiling/bridge mounted articulating jib cranes offer 360° rotation. Articulating wall mounted jib cranes offer 200° rotation on inner arm and 360° rotation on the outer arm.
